Americans love to spend their free time enjoying the company of friends and family, and visiting the many world-class theaters, museums, galleries, restaurants, and outdoor events in Chicago is a great way to learn more about the city and spend time with your friends.

Explore the USA

Chicago is connected to the rest of the world by international flights, and is an excellent base for exploring the USA during weekends and holidays. Public transport is extensive, and domestic flights are the best way to travel long distances.

It is easy to fly to other American cities from Chicago’s two main airports: O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW).

O’Hare International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world and is located 17 miles from Roosevelt University. You can find direct services to most major cities across the country including:

  • New York (2 hours)
  • Atlanta (2 hours)
  • Nashville (1 hour 30 minutes).

Chicago Midway International Airport has direct flights to many major cities and is 10 miles from the university.

You can also travel to major American cities using trains, a hire car, or long distance bus services. The Chicago Union Station (rail) and Chicago Greyhound Station (buses) are walking distance from campus.

Weather varies across the USA. In Chicago you will likely experience:

  • Spring (Mar-May): Mild and often rainy, with temperatures varying from 18°C to 21°C.
  • Summer (June-Aug): Hot, sunny summers are the perfect time to enjoy the many parks. Average temperatures range from 26°C to 30°C.
  • Fall (Sept-Nov): A calmer season when the days start to cool. Average temperatures range from 14°C to 24°C.
  • Winter (Dec-Feb): Cold, with regular snowfall. Average temperatures range from -5°C to 9°C.
